How To Use Honey To Treat Your Skin, Heal Chapped Lips, Get Rid Of Dandruff And Itchy Scalp

??Ever wondered how something so sweet could be so useful? Yes, I have too. Honey is one natural medicine no one could hesitate to take. Did you know that honey lasts for an unbelievably long time? An explorer once came across a 2000 year old jar of honey in an ancient Egyptian tomb, he thought it tasted great!

Not only does honey have medicinal values and general health benefits, it also has other uses which we would find out in this article. How could something so free be of such great importance. This is why I see honey as a gift from Nature to us.

Brief History Of Honey

You probably always thought that bees produced honey. On the contrary, honey is produced when foraging bees collect nectar. After sucking nectar into their stomach, enzymes and proteins from the bees? hypo pharyngeal glands are added to the nectar and helps in breaking it down. The bees then regurgitate and transfer the nectar to the hive bees which help in ingesting the regurgitated nectar and then regurgitating it again. After about 20 minutes group work of bees ingesting and regurgitating while removing water and adding essentials, the product finally reaches the honeycomb for proper storage. Here, the bees use the large amount of heat produced from them to regulate the temperature of the forming honey to about 35 degrees Celsius. The process continues until almost all the water is evaporated from the honey. The bees then cap the cells with wax to seal the honey. Honey is also produced from a number of wasp species found in the southern and central America. Pheew! Not so brief after all.

Let?s see how nature has gifted us;

Having Sore throat or persistent cough?

??Honey acts as a natural cough suppressant, and studies have shown that it could be even more effective than some cough medications. Just take a tablespoon last thing before you sleep and first thing when you wake, swallow slowly while allowing the thick liquid linger in your throat. PS; I personally tried this one, works like magic in a very short time.

Feel like your skin needs cleansing?

???There are antimicrobial properties which are present in honey. There are numerous things which when mixed with honey and applied on dull skins have produced great and positive effects on the skin. For one, you could just use a dollop of honey and 2 tablespoons of warm water consistently and watch the change happen. Of course, there is also honey + cucumber, honey + milk, honey+ sugar, honey +every other thing you have seen previously.

Having Chapped Lips?

Why not try using your own homemade lip balm. Honey + almond oil + beeswax = lip balm. What?s more? It is totally natural and cost free.

Cuts, Burns, Wounds?

Due to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory nature, honey acts as a catalyst in healing of wounds, cuts, bruises or what have you! Studies have shown that when used on patients with burns, there was a great increase in the speed of healing also!

Want to get rid of dandruff and itchy scalp?

Honey is all you need. Just apply diluted honey on scalp and massage for about 3 minutes, leave in and wash off after 3 hours. Try this consistently for 2 weeks and watch your hair glow.

Trouble sleeping?

Ever heard of ?early waking?? This terms describes a situation where you have no problems sleeping, but will always wake up shortly and find it very difficult to go back to bed. A teaspoon of honey with just a little added salt calms the stress hormones and lets you sleep. Try it! ?

Remember that moderation is everything, too much of honey can cause Constipation, cramps and even increase the blood sugar level. It is also not recommended for infants, pregnant and breastfeeding women.
